Pension Solution Vendor Management Advisor

Mandatory Qualifications: 
  • At least twenty (20) years of working experience in the software application development and/or Information Technology (IT) fields that including working with vendor partners to implement large systems.
  • At least five (5) years of senior leadership experience overseeing an IT department/division/organization in a director or executive-level position.
  • At least five (5) years of experience advising senior leaders and executives on sensitive high-level matters.
  • At least five (5) years of experience managing Service Levels, Service Level Credits, Vendor, and Contract management in a multi-source environment.
  • At least five (5) years of experience providing services to an IT department/division to improve operational efficiency, streamline processes and reduce operating costs, by adopting industry and nonproprietary Software Development Life Cycle methodology, as well as, enforcing an organization’s enterprise IT standards, policies, processes, procedures, and best practices, etc.
  • Four-year college degree (Bachelor) or higher from a government accredited/sanctioned college or university as evidenced by a copy of the diploma.
Desirable Qualifications:    
  • Five (5) or more years of working experience working in collaboration with the project management office (PMO).
  • Experience managing/administering, over a contiguous eight (8) year period, an operational or project budget of $25 million dollars or more.
  • Strong and effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate and guide strategy/brainstorming sessions with a group of executives.
  • Four-year college degree (Bachelor) or higher in computer science, information management, finance, accounting, or similar majors.
Tasks:
  • Initial meetings with the CalSTRS project teams to introduce the Vendor Management Advisor role as key support to the project and direct interface to the CalSTRS executives (i.e. project sponsors and ESC).
  • Mapping of key risks to be mitigated.
  • Identification and implementation of additional processes to manage the vendor toward success.
  • Identification of vendor relationship and outcome improvements needed, set as key performance indicators.
  • Tracking and review of existing service level agreements.
  • Initiation of additional project meetings with attention to project governance, adherence to project processes, and quality.
  • Provision of frequent and timely feedback sessions and/or reports for project sponsors.
  • Presentations to the ESC regarding the current state of various project efforts including current governance state, recommended changes and implementation of such (if warranted).
  • Attendance at walkthroughs of the deliverables tendered and provides observations and feedback to the project management team.
  • Detailed examination of past and current change requests, deliverables and other documentation to determine if corrective action is required and to understand “lessons learned”.
  • Education: Four-year college degree (Bachelor) or higher in computer science, information management, finance, accounting, or similar majors from a government accredited/sanctioned college or university as evidenced by a copy of the diploma.
